Simon Day is the Conservative Party's Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff to the Party Treasurer. He has responsibility for the financial management of the Party and oversees the Treasurers, Finance, Commercial and HR Departments. He is part of the Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) Executive Management Team.
He joined CCHQ in December 2009, after a 22 year career in professional services with Ernst & Young and BDO LLP (where he finished as a partner).
During his time at the Party, Simon has held various positions including Director of Compliance, Finance Director, Registered Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer and was a member of the Board of the Party from 2012 to 2017. In the run up to the 2015 General Election, Simon was part of the CCHQ E-SMT with the Party Chairmen, the Director of Campaigning and Campaign Strategist. He is a current member of the Party’s Finance & Audit Committee.
Simon is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
Simon is a Foundation Governor of his daughter’s Church of England Primary School and Chairman and Trustee of the Conservative Party Archive Trust. He is also a Board member of the Conservative Christian Fellowship. Until recently he was also member of the Audit Committee of the Commonwealth Secretariat (the executive arm of the Commonwealth).
